The Cuale River divides the oldtown and the new hotel section. Among Puerto Vallarta's miles of beaches, you can find places as secluded or crowded as you please. At least once, join the action at Playa Los Mortos, packed with vendors, thatched roofed palapa restaurants, beach snack shops, strolling mariachis, and boat rentals.
Banderas Bay, is 60 miles of tropical beaches, where one trip is never enough to explore it all. Puerto Vallarta, located in the center of Banderas Bay, is Mexico's best resort destination for restaurants in a remote jungle setting. Simply, don't go home without trying one of the restaurants, where you can splash in the river between courses. Also, not to be missed, are the day cruises to Yelapa, at the south end of the bay. Yelapa, is a tropical hide-away, reminiscent of a Polynesian-style village, sits peacefully on a fringe of white sand backed by lush jungle. Here you can swim, snorkle, eat in a beachfront palapa or just relax on the beach. Many like to take a few nights in one of the thached roof Hotel rooms, No Phones, No Electric (unless the generator is running), truly a romantic escape for all.
